Orchha, Madhya Pradesh, India Oct 2006

The temples of Orchha are probably the most impressive part. Amazing temples, ancient and huge. The first one we explored was the Chaturbhuj Temple.

We climbed up on the roof and saw the village of Orchha and the other temples down below.

Near the Chaturbhuj temple are many old ruins and other temples. And cows.

We could see our hotel from the roof! It's that set of white domes.

We also saw the Durga temple and some other old ruins from the roof.

The Ram Raja Temple is another big famous spot in Orchha. It's an active Hindu temple, where all the villagers go to pray. There are vultures living on the roof.

The Laxmi Narayan Temple is a bit out of town, which makes a nice hike. We walked up there twice. It's got well-preserved murals and wall paintings.
